Jimmy Garoppolo is a polarizing figure in the football world. Despite leading his team to a Super Bowl appearance, many fans and analysts alike seem to have a less than favorable view of him.

It begs the question, why do people dislike Jimmy Garoppolo? In addition, with his departure from the San Francisco 49ers and signing with the Las Vegas Raiders, what can we expect from him this year? In this blog post, we’ll dive deeply into these topics and explore the truth behind the Jimmy Garoppolo saga.

The Hate for Jimmy Garoppolo

To understand why some NFL fans dislike Jimmy Garoppolo, we must first take a look at his performance on the field. Despite leading his team to the big game, Garoppolo’s performance was, at best, mediocre.

His inability to make crucial plays in the fourth quarter, coupled with a few game-changing turnovers, left a sour taste in the mouths of many viewers and analysts.

In addition, Garoppolo’s average to below-average performance in his other games, particularly during the 2020 season, did him no favors. For these reasons, some fans may see Garoppolo as overrated or not deserving of his status as a starting quarterback in the NFL.

Another factor that may contribute to the perception of Garoppolo is his injury history. The quarterback has had his fair share of injuries throughout his career, missing a significant portion of the 2018 season and playing only six games in the 2020 season. While some fans may sympathize with his injury troubles, others may view it as a weakness or a liability.

In a sport like football where injuries are common, the durability of a player is a valued quality, and Garoppolo may be seen by some as lacking in that department, hence the quarterback debacle with the San Francisco 49ers last year.

Las Vegas Raiders

With Garoppolo’s move to the Las Vegas Raiders this year, it remains to be seen how he will perform and whether he can silence his critics.

The Raiders have made it clear that they see him as their starting quarterback for the upcoming season, but given the team’s recent struggles and their history with quarterbacks, the pressure will be on Garoppolo to perform. I believe he will win!

On the upside, with a change of scenery and a fresh start, Garoppolo may be able to tap into his potential and prove his worth as a capable quarterback.

Garoppolo (foot) passed his physical and was cleared for the start of training camp a couple of weeks ago. Garoppolo missed OTAs as he recovered from offseason foot surgery, but is now fully healthy.

Another factor to consider is the Raiders‘ offensive system. Head coach Josh McDaniels is known for his love of the West Coast offense, a system that Garoppolo is familiar with, having played in a similar scheme with the 49ers.

If the two can find common ground and work well together, Garoppolo may be able to thrive in the Raiders’ offense and have a successful season especially with a weapon like Devonte Adams, however long he stays there.

No Sweat Jimmy

There is no denying that Jimmy Garoppolo is a controversial figure in the NFL world. While some fans and analysts see him as a capable quarterback with potential, others view him as overrated or injury-prone. With his move to the Las Vegas Raiders this year, Garoppolo has a chance to prove his worth and show that he can be a successful starting quarterback in the league. Whether he can do so remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: the haters will be watching him this upcoming season.
