And the Cowboys still found a way to turn a 1-yard-line chance into a 23-yard field goal, kick a touchback with seven seconds left, and watch Tyler Loop walk off a 56-yarder. Baltimore 34, Dallas 31. Ravens 2–1. Cowboys 1–2. Who should be fired

Brian Schottenheimer’s kickoff decision is a firing tape if it happens again. After Aubrey tied it at 31 from 23 yards, Dallas had a choice: squib, directional, force a return, bleed the clock. Lamar needed 20-plus yards. He got 27. You handed the MVP a clean shot from midfield with the clock frozen. That is not “analytics.” That is a coach who did not trust his coverage unit to tackle for two seconds and paid for it with a loss in another country.

The goal-line offense should be in the meeting too. Nate Wiggins got flagged for DPI at the 1 with 28 seconds left. Ball at the door. Dak to CeeDee in the end zone, flag, first-and-goal. And they kicked. Not a sneak. Not a fade. A 23-yarder to tie. You flew a roster to Brazil and settled. That is how you go 1–2 with a quarterback who just went 25-of-40 for 276.

Nobody gets fired Monday morning for one kickoff. Schottenheimer should have to explain that touchback in public until the words taste like turf. Special teams coordinator sits in the same chair. If this staff kicks another touchback with under ten seconds and a one-score game, the Glazer-style “we don’t fire in September” excuse does not apply in Dallas. Ridicule the Cowboys

The timeout debate is cope. Jackson got the play off. Officials put a second back. Loop drilled 56. If your night depends on arguing whether a timeout beat a clock in Rio, you already lost the game on the kickoff.

The Ravens are not clean

They led 24–13 late in the third. Henry stuffed on fourth-and-1 from the Dallas 1. Then they watched Dak string two scoring drives and almost leave Brazil with a win. Baltimore let a game they had in a headlock become a walk-off. Loop got redemption. Fine. They also needed a Cowboys special-teams donation to get the ball in his range. Champions close at the 1. Baltimore didn’t. Lamar and Flowers closed it for them.

Prescott: 25-of-40, 276, one TD. He brought them back. He put them at the 1. The staff took the ball out of his hands.

Ferguson found the end zone. Turpin from 9. Lamb drew the flag at the 1 and never got the next throw. When the game is a yard, your stars have to finish. They were not asked to.

Offensive line — C+
Enough protection to drive the field twice in the fourth. Not enough violence on the sneak that never came.

Lamar 15-of-20, 186, two scores, 50 rush. Flowers 5-84 including the dagger. You made Baltimore work and then you let one play from the 35 beat you. That is a coverage issue and a coaching issue.

Aubrey did his job from 23. The kickoff after it is an F that should be framed. Touchback with seven seconds is how you lose a historic night.

Head coach — F
Fourth-and-1 stand you forced, then a 1-yard-line field goal you chose, then a touchback you chose. Two choices. Both wrong. Schottenheimer owns 1–2.

Overall — D
You were the better story for three hours and the punchline for ten seconds.

Jackson: 15-of-20, 186, two TDs, 50 rush, zero picks, one laser when the continent was watching. Seven seconds, one throw, timeout. That is why he is Lamar.

Skill — B+
Henry two rushing scores, 89 yards, stuffed on the 1 when it mattered. Flowers won the game. Hibner got a rookie score. Enough.

Offensive line — B
Lamar had room to throw and run. The fourth-and-1 is on the scheme and the back, not only the line.

Defense — C+
You let Dallas go 24–13 to 31–31. DPI at the 1 is sloppy. You held on the previous snap enough to force a kick. Barely.

Special teams — A
Loop from 56 as time expired. Redemption. The only unit that finished like a 2–1 team.

Head coach — B
Minter got the touchback gift and used it. Still let a two-score lead melt. The win papered over a sloppy third-to-fourth.

Overall — B
You won an instant classic because Dallas handed you the last snap. Take it. Do not pretend you dominated Brazil.

The bottom line

Fire the idea that a touchback is “safe” with seven seconds left. Fire the idea that a 1-yard-line field goal is complementary football. Keep Dak. Keep Lamar. Keep Loop, apparently. And if Dallas wants to be taken seriously after a loss that will live on every international highlight for a decade, someone in that headset has to lose the right to make the next kickoff call.

Brazil got a show. Dallas got the bill.
